Amidst the restrictions of the pandemic, in November 2020, we shipped these school supplies and sport jerseys to remote villages in Guinea-Bissau. Thanks to WellFound Organization that helped with the distribution of these supplies to the villages. We will be posting more photos as the school supplies are distributed to the students. We are so happy to report this to you as we were not sure if we will even have any activities accomplished in 2020. We are so thankful for your support and donations.

UniKids, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Louisville Kentucky, goes out throughout the year, to schools and organizations building awareness of a great need and collecting gently used and new school supplies to help developing country students in orphanages and low-income families. 

UniKids is currently in its annual fundraising campaign to raise shipping & handling costs for providing school supplies to about 6,000 kids during 2021. Our last shipment to Ghana cost nearly $1,000 for 645 pounds of school supplies that will help more than 2,000 students. Another shipment of around 750 pounds is now in route to Guinea Bissau costing approximately $2,000.

We hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe at home!

Normally, our campaign for collecting gently used and new school supplies begins in April and continues throughout May prior to schools starting to close for summer vacation.

Due to early closing of schools as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have put on hold our school supplies collection drive until schools reopen. We are saddened that we will not be able to collect and ship to those students who desperately need school supplies.

We will notify you when we resume our campaign. In the meantime, we want to let you know that we have few boxes of supplies ready to ship to one of our recipients. We would like to add to these collections before shipping; therefore, if you have school supplies or you are aware of anyone or any company that might have supplies to donate, please let me know and we will arrange pickup or provide drop off location. We will gladly accept your donations while keeping social distancing.

Our team would like to THANK YOU for your love and support throughout this year. Your school supplies and donations have been monumental in making this year a success! With your help, we were able to raise about $3,500 that is set to cover the shipping cost of school supplies in 2020.

The 2,500 lbs of school supplies we collected this year, have found a good home in different parts of the world. Here is our update:

ETHIOPIA
Through our partnership with OnePupil Ethiopia, a US based public charity that strives to support children in rural schools in Ethiopia. The organization is established by a team of volunteers to support children in rural schools in Ethiopia attend primary education and strive to reduce the number of children dropping out of school before reaching secondary school. Through this collaboration, we were able to ship about 1,000 lbs of school supplies to be distributed to schools in rural areas of Ethiopia.

HAITI
Our collaboration with Concerned People for New Haiti (CPNH) has allowed us to provide school supplies for a second year. Organizations like CPNH work towards rebuilding their communities while trying to recover from continuous difficulties. In August, we shipped about 500 lbs of school supplies. Through CPNH’s backpack program, they fill the backpacks with school supplies and provide a year of supplies to the students. We hope that we will alleviate some of the issues by donating school supplies to students in need.

GHANA
We have a strong partnership with Michael Lapsley Foundation in Ghana whose mission is to improve the quality of life of the underprivileged by addressing their educational and social development needs through provision of resources, information and training. Through this collaboration, we were able to ship about 1,000 lbs of school supplies that is aimed to reach four schools in different parts of Ghana. Our partner organization vets these schools to ensure that they fulfill our requirements and to make sure they understand Unikids’ missions and goals. We thank the Executive Director and Founder of Michael Lapsley Foundation, Ernest Ankomah Kyeremeh, for his outstanding work in making sure that the delivery and distribution was done seamlessly.

On June 5, 2019, we dropped off (at a shipping terminal) about 900 lb. of school supplies heading to Ethiopia via our partner organization Temari Ethiopia (One Pupil).
